The Sound of Silence

Amidst the cacophony of the waking day,
A symphony of voices in disarray,
The character stands, wearied and worn,
Seeking refuge from a world forlorn.

The city hums its relentless tune,
From dawn's pale blush to the silver moon,
Machines roar, and footsteps race,
An endless rhythm, a breathless pace.

But deep within, a whisper stirs,
A longing pure, devoid of spurs,
To leave the clang of clashing sound,
And tread where peace and quiet abound.

Into the forest, thick and green,
Where sunlight filters through a golden sheen,
The character ventures, heart in hand,
To find the silence of a gentler land.

Here, the air holds a sacred pause,
Nature's hush commands applause.
No honking horns, no hurried cries,
Just rustling leaves and endless skies.

The brook murmurs with a softer voice,
Its gentle babble a tranquil choice.
Birdsong floats like a fragile prayer,
A melody woven through the open air.

And in this stillness, a truth takes form,
A sanctuary amidst the storm.
The mind, unburdened, begins to see,
The clarity that silence brings to be.

Memories surface, like a tide,
Emotions raw, once pushed aside.
Dreams long buried take their place,
Unfolding in the quiet's embrace.

A tear escapes, but not from pain,
A cleansing drop, like summer rain.
For silence speaks in tones so clear,
The words unspoken we need to hear.

In this retreat from life's parade,
The soul finds space where peace is made.
And though the journey may not last,
Its echoes linger when it's past.

Returning now to the world’s refrain,
The character hears its song again.
But deep within, the silence stays,
A guiding note in life’s loud plays.

For in the quiet, they’ve learned to find,
A still, small voice within the mind.
The sound of silence, vast, profound,
A haven found beyond the sound.
