Chasing Shadows at Dusk
At dusk, the earth whispers in amber hues,
Casting shadows long, beneath weary shoes.
A figure runs, feet silent, heart loud,
Chasing their shadow through the shrouded crowd.
The shadow twists, it bends, it flees,
A phantom slipping through twilight's breeze.
Each step forward, it dances away,
A game unending as night claims the day.
Whose face is this the shadow wears?
A mirror of truths? A mask of cares?
It knows the secrets the heart can't bare,
Of pasts forgotten and wounds laid bare.
The sun dips lower, its golden grasp weak,
The shadow fades as the stars softly speak.
In the stillness, the figure halts, alone,
Their shadow gone, yet they feel it’s home.
For shadows chase light, as night chases day,
And the self finds truth in its own shadow play.
To chase is to learn, to run is to grow,
In fading light, the soul will glow.
