Chasing the Sun

Sun enters through the skylight,
Creating a golden pool that
steadily moves eastward as the sun moves westward.
Senior pets delight in its warm presence.
Today’s goal, like the goal of many sunny days,
is to follow its travels across the wooden floor.
One kitty captures the sun puddle,
invited to snooze by the warmth
that spreads throughout his lazy bones.
But the sun is an inconstant friend.
It continues its adventures, and he wakes alone.
He is forced to relocate to the next sun
puddle only to again be abandoned.
The chase continues until he gives up
In favor of a cuddle puddle with his sister on the
immovable sunroom couch.
The kitties enjoy this gentle serenity together,
Eyes closed, softly snoring,
Another happy day being a cat.
