Illumination

In the heart of the night, beneath a moon so bright,
A silence speaks, of ancient peaks, where wisdom takes its flight.
Under the sacred Bodhi tree, in the land of golden hue,
A prince became enlightened, his soul reborn anew.

Gautama, the seeker, with a mind like a clear blue sky,
Forsook the royal garments, to understand the why.
He wandered through the forests, by the rivers and the plains,
Seeking out the truth, to ease all beings' pains.

The moonlit path he followed, led him through trial and test,
From ascetic's harsh austerity, to finding inner rest.
In Bodh Gaya's tranquil grove, upon that fateful night,
He touched the root of suffering, and brought forth inner light.

Oh, Buddha of compassion, your teachings softly spread,
A lamp unto the weary, where fear and doubts have fled.
From India’s sacred soil, to lands both near and far,
Your message shines in every heart, as steady as a star.

The Eightfold Path you showed us, a guide to rightful living,
Right view and right intention, through each mindful giving.
Right speech and right action, in harmony and peace,
Right livelihood and effort, where all our sorrows cease.

In meditation's quietude, where thoughts like ripples flow,
Right mindfulness and concentration, the seeds of wisdom grow.
Oh, Tathagata, the Awakened One, with eyes serene and bright,
You lead us from the darkness, into the realm of light.

On this night of Vesak, under the full moon's gleam,
We celebrate your birth, your quest, your sacred dream.
With flowers and with incense, with candles’ gentle glow,
We honor your enlightenment, from so many moons ago.

In temples and in hearts alike, we chant your holy name,
From mountaintops to ocean depths, your teachings still the same.
Impermanence and suffering, the truths you spoke so clear,
With mindfulness and loving-kindness, we hold your wisdom dear.

Oh, Buddha of the Dharma, your legacy lives on,
In the hearts of every follower, from dusk till rosy dawn.
Your journey is our beacon, your path our guiding star,
To find our own enlightenment, no matter where we are.

So, let the moonlight bless us, on this sacred Purnima night,
With the same profound compassion that you brought to our sight.
May we all find peace and solace, in the teachings you impart,
And let the Dharma's radiance illuminate every heart.
